At Cavod Performing Arts, we offer dance classes for ages 3 through adults every Monday-Thursday in New Holland and Manheim. With options for beginner dancers all the way to advanced, we have something for everybody!

You have a variety of genres to choose from—whether you’re interested in ballet classes & modern dance or jazz & tap classes, we’ve got it (plus much more!)

We believe dance is a powerful way for students to express themselves through movement and music. Our mission is to offer a Godly environment that inspires excellence in the arts to build community and impact lives. We uphold this mission in each of our classes by making sure all music and choreography is free from sensual and provocative influences and by fostering a community where each student feels safe, loved, and accepted.

Acro Classes at Cavod

Acrobatic Arts, also commonly known as acro, is a style of dance that combines acrobatic and gymnastic elements with dance technique. It is known for its athleticism and seamless blend of dance and acrobatic skills.

Acro classes are taught by our certified acrobatics arts instructors. Students will be introduced to the basic principles of acrobatics and gymnastics, including balance, coordination, strength, flexibility, and control.

They will learn proper technique for:
  • Forwards rolls
  • Cartwheels
  • Round offs
  • Front and back-handsprings
  • Walkovers
  • Handstands
  • Aerials
Our acrobatic program for kids and teens allows students ages 4 and up to develop their overall body strength, flexibility, and tumbling skill sets. All classes aim to prepare students to advance through conditioning exercises, such as push-ups and core exercises, as well as placing value on proper form and execution. Ballet Classes at Cavod

Cavod currently offers weekly Ballet classes in our onsite dance studio that are developmentally appropriate for each age group ranging from age 3-Adult, that include all skill levels. Cavod is instilling a deeper appreciation for the art of ballet in each dancer while simultaneously equipping the serious student for a professional career. The Cavod dance school also offers students multiple performance opportunities throughout the season.

Vision of Our Ballet Program

Our Ballet Program is inspired by the Cecchetti, ABT, and Vaganova Syllabli. We believe that by combining the strengths of these foundational schools our dancers will be well prepared to enter the world of dance upon their high-school graduation. We not only focus on the proper execution of each step, but also the artistry and intentionality within each movement. Our instructors value the growth of every student and desire to see them succeed physically, mentally, and spiritually.

The History of Ballet

Ballet is a disciplined style of physical mastery from which many genres of dance originated. The dance style first appeared in Italy during the 15th century as a form of entertainment and eventually grew in popularity and later spread around the world to countries such as France and Russia. Ballet has existed for hundreds of years as a storytelling art form leaving global audiences captivated.

Hip Hop Classes at Cavod

Hip Hop is a type of street dance style typically associated with Hip Hop music. Popular characteristics of this dance style include breaking, locking, and popping. Students will learn how to count music, dance to a rhythm, isolate different body parts, and perform distinctive hip hop movements. Cavod's hip hop program allows students to broaden their creativity in a holistic way by exploring different hip hop styles such as break dancing, popping, locking, tutting, and more. Jazz Classes at Cavod

Jazz is an upbeat, athletic, and dynamic style of dance. Studies will include musical awareness, theatrics, conditioning, leaps, and turns. Students will learn to move with grace and ease while maintaining good posture. The Jazz Dance Classes offered by Cavod Performing Arts in Lancaster County, PA offers a unique opportunity for students interested in learning more about jazz dancing and performing arts in a dance studio setting. Each program provides instruction in all aspects of jazz dance training including technique, music, choreography, and performance. We offer classes year round for both beginning and advanced dancers. Dancers will learn a deeper understanding of working from their core in order to achieve maximum ability in this style of dance. Class combination styles will range from fast and intricate LA inspired works to Broadway character routines. Modern Classes at Cavod

Cavod Performing Art’s Modern dance program combines strong ballet technique with freedom of movement and expression. Our modern classes pull from various well-known classical modern techniques and Post-Modern/Contemporary styles such as; Graham, Horton, Limon, and Release technique.

History of Modern Dance

Modern D This genre of dance challenges dancers to take risks with their movement and to be creative. Focus is placed on balance, control, strength, flexibility, and interpretation of music through dance. Proper attention is given to student alignment using technical exercises designed to strengthen the lower and upper body. These exercises are often rooted in ballet technique, but have been adapted to modern movement.

Modern Dance Training at Cavod

Classes include initiating movement through the breath and use of the spine for contract and release movement. Class warm-up will work through parallel and turned-out positions, core initiation, use of the floor, head-tailbone-connection through plié, and building flexibility and strength. Center warm-up and across the floor consists of various runs, jumps, swinging movements, turns, quick direction changes, dropping your center of gravity, floor work that includes fall and recovery rolls, slides, and weight-bearing inversions.

Benefits of Modern Dance

Students will build improvisational skills, partnering skills, the use of the body to portray emotion, and choreographic skills in higher level classes.

Tap Classes at Cavod

Tap dancing, one of the older forms of dance, involves making percussive sounds with the feet, often using metallic caps on the tap shoe of the tap dancer to accentuate the sharp clicks and clacks dancers use to stomp out a rhythm.

History of Tap Dancing

Tap allows students to understand musicality and rhythm. Students are taught to count music, keep rhythm, and improvise sounds. Quick footwork and minimal upper-body movement characterize hoofer tap, while Broadway tap is a more theatrical version of the genre. Tap Dancing Shoes

Training at Cavod

Cavod offers tap classes emphasizing Broadway and hoofer-style tap. Classes consist of warm-up, center and traveling exercises, and learning choreographed combinations. Students are taught tap vocabulary, rhythm construction, and syncopation. We offer classes for ages 3 to adult for beginner, intermediate, and advanced skill levels.

Worship Dance Classes at Cavod

Cavod's Worship Dance (or praise dancing) classes provide participants a time to embrace the gift of dance solely for praising the God who created us. Dancers will explore expressive improvisation to worship music and will be given creative assignments inspired by Bible passages, worship lyrics, and prayer throughout the dance program.

Benefits of Worship Dance

This encourages creativity and seeks to inspire the fusion of a wide variety of dance movements or one's own unique styles of dance. Physical expression in this way nurtures the mind, body and spirit. It is our desire to glorify and give back to God the gift of dance that He has given us!

Who is this class for?

We offer classes for ages 6 to adult for all those who want to worship our Father in Heaven. Basic skills or understanding of forms of dance are not required. These classes are offered in central Lancaster County, PA at our New Holland and Manheim locations and allow dancers the opportunity to turn off everyday life and enter into a time of prayer and worship Jesus through movement....Learn More

Friends in Motion

Cavod offers a special needs dance classes in Lancaster, PA, as well as theater programs for special needs for teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities once a week. These classes are known as Friends in Motion and a Friends in Motion full camp week over the summer called Camp Create. We believe that dance and the arts are fantastic tools to engage the mind and body to express ourselves no matter what skill level or ability creatively. I am so happy to have found Cavod, a place I can trust with the amazing gift of dance as worship and expression of who God made each one to be! Huge thanks to Connie and all the Cavod teachers for being steadfast leaders of the kids and adults in our community who step out and vulnerably to try something new. I’m 51 years old and I decided to try a dance class for the first time: worship dance. My daughter is 18 and she started various dance classes at Cavod when she was 16. All my children attend Cavod for dance and music lessons. We have been a Cavod family for 11 years. Our family thinks of Cavod as their second home. We love the Christian environment and it brings us comfort in knowing our children are safe and the music, costumes and choreography is tasteful. Our children feel loved, encouraged, inspired and supported by their instructors. Cavod has a playroom for younger children while siblings are in classes. They also have a great cafe area where the students are often found doing school work and socializing with friends. The parents too also can gather and socialize while their children are in classes. I love how Cavod has created a safe place where their students can express their God given talents and feel loved.

My kids have gone to Cavod for almost 4 years and it has been a wonderful fit for our family. My daughter wanted to dance but I had concerns about what kind of environment she would be in. Cavod's teachers are top quality; well educated and experienced in their respective genres. Cavod offers several adult classes. I take 2; Tap and ballet and the teachers are phenomenal and in my case, very understanding with my limitations. I came to Cavod after years of being in a studio I was very involved with and then closed. Cavod has everything that we dreamed about having in the former studio; an ideal location, ample parking, a cafe, and a playroom for non-dancing children.

My son has taken theatre classes for 2 years here and tap for one year. It is a wonderful, welcoming place. Everyone is very friendly. We also appreciate the Christian environment and knowing that our son is being taught to perform to the God's glory. I would highly recommend Cavod!

I've seen a few theatre productions as well as several dance performances at Cavod and they are always well done, artistic, and moving. I would definitely recommend attending any show they're putting on!

All 6 of my children have attended Cavod for many years. The values Cavod carries is valued by my family. Truly a hidden gem. Their technique in all the classes will not disappoint a growing dancer. Wouldn't choose another studio to call family.

Amazing place! Great dance and performing arts studio. Good quality education in the performing arts. The teachers are wonderful and other students are very friendly. They offer classes for both kids and adults. I believe this studio will continue to expand and grow even more in the coming years.

My daughter is in her 6th year at Cavod and she has blossomed into a beautiful young women. Cavod has become her happy place and she has made lifelong friends here. She has grown not only technically but spiritually as well. She found her thing and a place to call home! When we moved to Lancaster and she had to switch schools I promised her no matter how far we moved I would never take Cavod away. And now my stepdaughter is enjoying it as well. Thank you for giving me a safe place to teach my children everything from dance to acting to loving and accepting others! And that they are special because of whose they are!

We are so thankful for Cavod!! This is our daughter's 8th year in ballet, 4th year at Cavod and her 1st year on Dance Company II. We appreciate the Cecchetti ballet technical training/syllabus - offered no where else in the area. Not only does Cavod give excellent ballet/dance training, but also, it is a place of spiritual formation and sisterhood. We are so thankful to have found a dance studio that puts dance in it's rightful place - under the Lordship of Christ and for God's glory and renown.

This is an amazing school. Its presence is desperately needed since it is one of so few Jesus centered dance and theatre schools available in the area. The director and staff are always approachable. The teachers work so hard to get each one to perform at their personal best level. I have adored all of the teachers I have ever had.

The best time to register for the school year is between June and August. You will be more likely get your choice of dance classes and you will be able to start at the beginning of the year so you don’t miss any of our great instruction. View our calendar here for more details on when to join.
Well, we don’t have “Performing Arts” in our name for nothing! Dance and Acro classes perform in the Spring Dance Concert in June. In addition to selling tickets to that off-site performance, there is a costume fee due in the fall and we do a fundraiser to help offset the costs for you.

Yes, CAVOD has a dress code for its dance classes. Students are expected to wear appropriate dance attire and shoes, as well as follow specific guidelines for hair and jewelry. View our policy on dress for dance classes here

About Cavod

Cavod currently offers a variety of performance art classes in dance, acting, music, acrobatics, and more. These courses are designed to provide students with an opportunity to explore the arts while challenging them to achieve a standard of excellence. As students strive to attain excellence in their art, they also learn skills such as patience, perseverance, self-discipline and teamwork. As a result, they gain confidence and they have lots of fun in the process!
