The title Citylight, is inspired by the call we have as believers in Matthew 5:14-16;

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Who we are

Citylight Dance Theatre is a contemporary-based dance ministry, seeking to shine the light of Christ to others through the means of dance and the arts. Citylight desires to use dance as a tool to draw people closer to Jesus, and to reveal the hope of God’s truth and transforming grace to surrounding communities and beyond. Citylight is made up of teen through young adult dancers who are passionate about Jesus.

Why we Dance

We believe that dance is a powerful way to communicate. Dance is a universal language that surpasses cultural barriers, languages, generations, and demographics. All can understand and relate to what is shared through the dances we share.

What we do

Citylight Dance Theatre partners with local organizations to minister through gospel-centered dance presentations. Our shows vary based on need.  Past events and bookings have included but are not limited to:

• homeless shelters
• youth centers
• schools (assemblies & chapels)
• churches (services & conferences)
• retirement communities
• block parties & town events
• festivals
• parades
• street ministry

At each event, our common purpose is to share the good news of Jesus through the arts.

Team Discipleship

Each season, dancers not only train and perform at outreach shows, but are part of a mentorship program to help further grow their faith and understanding their identity in Christ. We believe that for our team to pour into others effectively, dancers need intentional discipleship in and outside of the Church. To make space for this, dancers meet weekly for a Bible study, prayer, and worship time in addition to their rehearsals and outreach shows.

Costuming 

Costuming is always modest and tasteful. Costuming is adaptable to suit your event’s needs. Outdoor shows we typically wear black fitness pants with our company t-shirts. Indoor shows (if there is a backstage area) dancers often wear simple modest costumes over leggings.

Dance Presentations & Music

Our choreography ranges from story driven pieces, dances set to worship music, and dances set to music depicting a relatable life theme or struggle. Our choreography and music are always clean, versatile, and adaptable. Depending on your vision for an event, we are happy to custom make a show lineup based on your audience and intent. In addition to performing, Citylight has also shared personal faith testimonies, lead a prayer ministry time, and taught worship dance demonstrations at events and shows.
