Sleep Well!

Do you ever toss & turn, lay wide awake at night and can’t shut your brain off? This has become a huge problem for me. A good night’s rest is a key element to staying healthy and feeling good. So I have been working on this! These last few months I have been sleeping so much better and here is what I have found.

  • I take 4 magnesium vitamins a night and a melatonin to relax.
  • No social media scrolling an hour before bed.
  • Don’t listen to the news or be on any apps an hour or 2 before going to bed.
  • Read the Bible, an encouraging book or a devotional book 15 minutes before you turn the light out.
  • Repeat a few verses OUTLOUD, that are promises from the Lord.
  • Pray and ask the Lord to clear your mind…casting all of your cares on Him.
  • Take a few deep cleansing breaths, and let it all go….
  • And if I still can’t sleep after a few minutes, I start praying for people and blessing them. So powerful!

And then off to sleep I go! If I wake up during the night, I start thanking the Lord, counting my blessings and praying for others, not myself.

Here are a few favorite verses that Dave and I quote each night before we go to sleep.

    1. Bless the Lord oh my soul, and all that is within me. Bless the Lord oh my soul, and forget not all His benefits. Who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies. Psalm 103:1-3
    2. Call upon me, and I will show you great and mighty things that you do not know…(And we add “and cannot figure out. And I will surprise you!” LOL! AND HE DOES! SO OFTEN!)
    3. He has shown you oh man what is good, and what does the Lord require of you. But to do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
    4. Be anxious for nothing, but let your requests be made known to God, WITH THANKSGIVING, and the peace of God which passes ALL UNDERSTANDING, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus! Philippians 4:6.

You might have a few favorites! We switch them up sometimes. We’ve been doing this since the Covid days, and we are so blessed!

Another tip is to HAVE FUN! Take time to take a walk, do something fun with your spouse, or family. This past week, I went to the Poconos with 3 of my dear friends for 3 days. We went to the town of Jim Thorpe, had ice cream, laughed, played games, watched the deer, and had deep and meaningful conversations. I came back refueled and ready to go!

At Cavod, our open house at Manhiem was a great success and is growing! WJTL was LIVE with kids cookie break, a bounce house, face painting, performances, tours, teachers, free food and so much fun! Here are a few photos! Love the Cavod family that is developing in the Manheim community!

We also have such a great community at Cavod in New Holland! Thursday evening we ripped up the flooring in the hallways of the performing arts building, to prepare for new flooring. We had 10 guys… yes, I said 10 guys show up to help! We did it all in 3 hours! Yes, 3 hours!! Just wowww! This saved us a ton of money! We had pizza and lots of fun too! The new flooring will be laid next week, just in time for classes to start on August 26th! I love our Cavod Family!

Prayer – “Lord, I surrender my anxieties and racing thoughts into Your loving hands. Grant me the strength to trust Your wisdom, for You know the path ahead. Fill my mind with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding. Help me focus on the present moment, leaving behind the weight of unnecessary worries. Guide my thoughts towards what is true, noble, and praiseworthy. In Your presence, may overthinking lose its hold on me, and may Your calming grace prevail. I place my faith in You, the ultimate source of peace and serenity. Amen.” (from graceandprayers.com)

CHOOSE joy, my friends, with a cup of coffee and you WILL have a great week!

Much love,
