My mother passed away at the age of 86, over 14 years ago. Mother’s Day reminds me of how much I miss her. She allowed many sleepovers with my friends on our country farm for my double extroverted self! LOL! She played games with us, cooked delicious food, and had many pillow fights. She was my best friend and role model. After my dad passed away, she lived with Dave & me for over 17 years until she needed extra care in her older years. At Fairmount Homes, this little Mennonite mother of mine insisted on having the nurse do her nails.
Here is a precious picture of me and my proud mama! LOL! Previously she would have not been caught dead with painted nails!
And now, years later, I find myself with 3 grown married children and I am honored to be their Mama. I am blessed by who they have become!
On Mother’s Day, Derek, our oldest son, made a special grilled lunch for us, his favorite thing to do. We enjoyed quality time, which is one of my favorite things.
Lots of family things this week, with Derek celebrating 10 years as owner and founder of Make Films in Lancaster! Watch for an incredible movie coming soon, called “Brave the Dark”! Aaron our youngest son was Derek’s first employee and here we are enjoying a great celebration at “Decades” in Lancaster City.
I have one more picture of my grandson, Jeremiah celebrating his 18th birthday with a special date and a new iPhone. Another special afternoon of quality time.
A few weeks ago, we had another celebration at Cavod’s annual Gala, our biggest fundraiser of the year, raising $102,600! I am so grateful! A huge thank you to all of our sponsors and guests! Our theme was “Light In the Darkness.” It was a powerful evening, with videos of alumni students sharing how we are a light in a dark world! Dancers and singers of all ages gave a wonderful performance and glory to the Lord through the arts!
Another part of our Cavod family is our pre-professional team, Ornate Dance Theatre. They had a powerful show called “The Search” this weekend. What a powerful evening, giving God the glory!
Our students at Cavod are working hard, and getting ready for their end of year performances….with theatre showcases, 3 piano recitals and 3 dance recitals! Let the shows continue, to usher in the summer! We are ready!
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart,
be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer”. Psalms 19:14
Prayer – “Dear Lord, we thank you for another week! Help us to speak words of life, wherever we go. May our thoughts be those of hope and possibilities! You are our REDEEMER! We love you Lord! Amen.”
Grab a cup of coffee and have a great week my friends! Remember to encourage someone today. Your words make a difference!
Much love,
Executive Director
