Coffee With Connie – The Joy of Christmas

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death,

upon them a light has shined… For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given;

and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:2, 6

What an amazing and sacred time of year as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. I find my heart overflowing with gratitude this morning as I reflect on all He has done. He truly is the Great Light… bringing hope in the midst of challenges, comfort in times of uncertainty, and freedom from shame! I am so thankful for Jesus and the gift of His presence in each of our lives. What a gift, what a Savior!

This month has been full… full of joy, celebration, friendship, and God’s faithfulness. On a personal note, I am deeply grateful for the moments to slow down and enjoy relationships. I was able to steal away one evening with dear friends to Longwood Gardens to take in the beauty of the Christmas lights. It was such a sweet reminder of God’s creativity and the gift of friendship.

I also spent special time with my precious friend Laverne, sharing our hearts and life. How important it is to have friends and mentors who walk alongside us, encourage us, and remind us who we are in Christ.

We also enjoyed a wonderful evening with Dave’s family… siblings and spouses gathered together, singing, sharing memories, and celebrating Christmas. What a gift family is and how thankful I am for these moments that anchor our hearts.

December at Cavod has been nothing short of extraordinary! We kicked off the month with two beautiful weekends of White Christmas at the Cavod Theatre. What a stunning production and an incredible cast! We opened the run with an exquisite dinner theatre and nearly every show was sold out! I stood in awe watching excellence, creativity, and love poured out on that stage! What an incredible show, from the dancers, to the beautiful vocals and the outstanding costumes… it was such a fabulous show!

It was extra special as our oldest granddaughter was a beautiful featured dancer, posed here with her mom & dad, her sister Charlotte and our son Aaron.

This past Friday night was especially meaningful as we gathered for our Cavod Staff Christmas Celebration. It was an exquisite evening honoring all that God has done this year, celebrating our team, and ending the night with our very own Cavod Family Feud, hosted by none other than my son-in-law, Richard Lapp… which brought a lot of fun and laughs! What a gift this community is!

From our family to yours—Merry Christmas.

Below are a few pictures I thought I would share of our family. My prayer is that you have the most wonderful season with those you love. May you take time to pause, to laugh, to reflect, and to truly enjoy one another as you celebrate the birth of Jesus!

Our family!
Dave & I, of course
Our daughter Tahnya & her husband Rich, and their kids Micah, Jeremiah, Aaliyah, Isaiah, Jude, Autumn, Charlotte, Seth & Andreas
Our son Derek & his wife Ashley, and their kids Makayla & Ethan
Our son Aaron & his dog Luca
Dave & I and our amazing grandchildren

I also want to take a moment to say thank you from the deepest place in my heart to all of you who have given financially to Cavod this past year! Because of our sponsors and donors, Cavod exists. Because of you, we are able to build community, pursue excellence, and create an oasis where students can learn, grow, and create with purpose… fulfilling the call God has placed on this ministry.

If you are still prayerfully considering a gift, there is still time to give. You can click the link below to help us finish out this season strong as we look ahead with faith and expectation. Every gift matters and every gift makes a difference!

Thank you for being part of our Cavod family, for believing in the vision, and for walking alongside us. May the Lord bless you and keep you, may His light shine upon you, and may you experience His peace in a fresh way this Christmas season.

With so much love and gratitude 💛,
