Citylight is inspired by the call given in Matthew 5:14-16;

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Who We Are

Citylight Dance Theatre is a contemporary-based dance ministry seeking to shine Christ’s light through the arts. Our purpose is to use dance as a tool to reveal Jesus’ heart to our local community, stirring hope and joy with gospel centered storytelling. Citylight is made up of teen dancers who are passionate about Jesus and their community!

Why We Dance

Dance is a powerful way to communicate — it is a universal language that surpasses cultural barriers, languages, generations, and demographics. We believe that the art of dance carries the power to connect us all through vulnerability, empathy, and shared experience.

What We Do

Citylight Dance Theatre partners with local organizations to minister through gospel-centered dance presentations. Our shows vary based on need.  Past events and bookings have included but are not limited to:

• homeless shelters
• youth centers
• schools (assemblies & chapels)
• churches (services & conferences)
• retirement communities
• block parties & town events
• festivals
• parades
• street ministry

At each event, our common purpose is to share the good news of Jesus through the arts.

Team Discipleship

Each member of Citylight participates in weekly choreography rehearsals, group Bible study throughout the season, one-on-one mentoring sessions with their Director, and various prayer and worship gatherings. We believe intentional discipleship is essential to a healthy ministry. Our goal is not only to provide performance and outreach opportunities for students but also to support and encourage them in their faith journey. Additionally, team members are required to attend specific technique classes at Cavod outside of their rehearsal time to continue developing their technical skills.
